Cut & Paste & Keyboards

In the early years of Windows, Cut & Paste was an esoteric feature used by brainy gurus. Today, Cut & Paste has become standard fare used by Grandma and Grandpa. Yet we continue to use the same awkward 2-finger left-handed salute, Ctrl-X / Ctrl-V and Ctrl-C. Touch-typists are heavily impacted because they are forced to remove their hands from the home keys. I would suspect that awkward motion aggravates carpal tunnel syndrome.

With a few exceptions, none of which are in common use, all keyboards use the same fusty layout. Even the people who design keyboards use the layout– although these days, the people building the keyboards are more likely to personally use an Asian style keyboard, with which I have no experience. Perhaps this issue is irrelevant to them, so it will never change. However, I would LOVE to see a single-key Cut & Paste become a standard.
